About This Course

This workshop focuses on equipping participants with the skills to design, model, and monitor sustainable supply chains using data analytics and digital tools. Learn how to apply AI, IoT, and real-time dashboards to enhance transparency, reduce waste, and align with sustainability and ESG goals.

Aim

To provide participants with comprehensive tools, frameworks, and digital technologies to design, monitor, and optimize sustainable supply chains that support environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals while ensuring transparency and regulatory compliance.

Workshop Objectives

To equip participants with the knowledge and skills to understand, model, and monitor sustainable supply chains through the use of data-driven tools and digital technologies.

Workshop Structure

🟩 Day 1: Foundations of Sustainable Supply Chains

Topics:

  • What is a sustainable supply chain?
  • Principles of circular economy and lifecycle thinking
  • Environmental, social, and economic impacts (triple bottom line)
  • Key standards and frameworks (GRI, ISO 20400, GHG Protocol Scope 3)

Demo/Discussion:

  • Analyze a simple product supply chain (e.g., coffee or smartphone)
  • Map upstream and downstream impacts

🟨 Day 2: Traceability and Digital Monitoring

Topics:

  • Importance of traceability: from raw material to end product
  • Technologies: RFID, Blockchain, IoT sensors
  • Key KPIs: emissions per unit, energy/water use, ethical sourcing
  • Data collection and integration (ERP, LCA, IoT)

Hands-On Demo:

  • Use a Python + Pandas script to simulate traceability logs
  • Simple dashboard or map showing supplier nodes and alerts

🟦 Day 3: Impact Assessment and Reporting

Topics:

  • Impact categories: carbon footprint, water footprint, labor welfare
  • Scope 3 emissions and supplier audits
  • Reporting formats (ESG reports, SDG mapping, CDP)
  • Policy implications and green procurement strategies

Demo:

  • Build a simple impact scorecard using a provided dataset
  • Show supplier-wise ranking and gap areas for improvement
