About This Course

Plant metabolomics is an advancing research field that enables the comprehensive analysis of plant metabolites to understand biochemical pathways, bioactive compound production and plant responses to environmental stress. With developments in mass spectrometry, computational metabolomics and machine learning, researchers can investigate metabolic changes associated with plant growth, defense mechanisms and stress adaptation.

This 3-day hands-on workshop provides practical training in plant metabolomics, bioactive compound profiling, metabolic pathway analysis and AI-based stress biomarker discovery. Participants will explore LC-MS-derived metabolomics datasets, identify differentially abundant metabolites, investigate specialized metabolic pathways and examine biochemical responses to drought, salinity and other environmental stresses.

Using Google Colab, Python and freely accessible metabolomics resources, participants will perform statistical analysis, metabolic pathway enrichment and machine learning-based biomarker identification. The workshop connects analytical chemistry, plant biotechnology, molecular biology and computational research to develop skills relevant to plant stress physiology, natural product research and crop improvement.
