Climate-Adaptive Architecture and Passive Design Strategies

A Technical Workshop on Designing for Resilience, Energy Efficiency, and Thermal Comfort

  • Mode: Virtual / Online
  • Type: Mentor Based
  • Level: Moderate
  • Duration: 3 Days (60-90 Minutes each day)
  • Starts: 19 August 2025
  • Time: 5 PM IST

About This Course

As climate change intensifies, the architectural community must evolve to prioritize adaptive, sustainable, and passive design. This workshop bridges architectural theory with practical tools to teach how buildings can reduce dependence on mechanical systems by intelligently responding to environmental stimuli—sun, wind, rain, humidity, and heat.

Participants will explore bioclimatic zoning, thermal comfort modeling, daylighting strategies, natural ventilation, and passive heating and cooling systems using tools such as Climate Consultant, Ladybug, EnergyPlus, and regional case studies.

Aim

To train participants in the principles and practices of climate-responsive and passive architecture, enabling them to create buildings and environments that are energy-efficient, resilient, and context-sensitive.

Workshop Objectives

  • Promote sustainable, low-carbon architecture in diverse climate zones

  • Equip designers with skills to create energy-efficient and resilient buildings

  • Encourage integration of vernacular wisdom with modern design tools

  • Support global climate goals through built environment transformation

  • Foster interdisciplinary approaches between architecture, environment, and technology
