AI-Driven Catalyst Discovery: Machine Learning, Explainable AI & Reaction Optimization
From Catalyst Data to AI-Powered Predictions: Screen Promising Catalysts, Predict Performance & Optimize Reactions Using Python and Explainable AI
About This Course
Catalyst discovery plays a crucial role in developing efficient chemical processes, sustainable materials and cleaner energy technologies. However, identifying promising catalysts and optimizing reaction conditions often requires extensive experimentation, complex data analysis and significant research resources.
This 3-day hands-on workshop, preceded by a 30-minute Day 0 orientation, introduces researchers to AI-driven catalyst discovery using experimental datasets, machine learning and explainable artificial intelligence.
Participants will explore how to analyze catalyst properties, identify important descriptors, screen promising candidates and predict catalytic activity and reaction selectivity using Random Forest and XGBoost. The workshop also introduces SHAP-based model interpretation and multi-objective reaction optimization to support data-driven catalyst selection and experimental planning.
Through guided practical sessions using Google Colab, Python, Scikit-learn, XGBoost, SHAP and SciPy, participants will develop a reproducible computational workflow that connects catalyst informatics with predictive modeling and sustainable reaction optimization.
