R Programming for Biologists

“Empowering Biologists with Data-Driven Insights through R Programming”

  • Mode: Virtual (Google Meet)
  • Type: Mentor Based
  • Level: Beginners
  • Duration: 3 Days (1.5 hours per day)
  • Starts: 15 November 2024
  • Time: 3:00 PM IST

About This Course

R programming has become an essential tool in biological research for data analysis, bioinformatics, and statistical computing. This 3-day workshop is designed specifically for biologists who seek to develop their coding skills and enhance their ability to analyze complex biological data. Participants will learn the fundamentals of R, focusing on practical applications in genomics, ecological modeling, and evolutionary biology.
Throughout the workshop, biologists will explore various data sets, learning how to clean, analyze, and visualize data using R packages such as ggplot2. The sessions are designed to be highly interactive, with hands-on exercises that simulate real-world biological research challenges. No prior programming experience is required, but a basic understanding of biological concepts will be beneficial.

Aim

This workshop aims to introduce biologists to the powerful capabilities of R programming for data analysis, visualization, and statistical computing in biological research. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped to handle biological data sets, create insightful visualizations, and implement statistical models relevant to their work.

Workshop Objectives

  • Introduce fundamental concepts of R programming relevant to biological research.
  • Teach participants to analyze biological data sets using R.
  • Explore key R packages like ggplot2, and dplyr
  • Enable participants to visualize biological data for publications and presentations.
  • Apply R to bioinformatics, ecological modeling, and genomics research.

Prediction of Protein Structure Using AlphaFold: An Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program

Teaching style and slides are very old technology, low resolution. There are many new, easy to use tools, why still use very old books to show protein structures and use the paint to draw neural networks etc.
