Smart Cities and Sustainability Metrics: From Sensors to Decisions
An Interdisciplinary Workshop on Data-Driven Urban Sustainability and Intelligent Infrastructure
Skills you will gain:
About Program:
Cities today are becoming data-rich ecosystems powered by IoT sensors, edge devices, and urban analytics platforms. However, transforming this data into actionable insights for sustainability remains a challenge.
This 3-days workshop focuses on the end-to-end journey from sensor-based data collection to informed decision-making, covering frameworks like SDG 11, ISO 37120, and real-time dashboards. Participants will explore how to monitor energy, mobility, waste, water, and emissions, and how to use that information to drive sustainability KPIs.
Aim: To equip participants with the tools, frameworks, and technologies to collect, analyze, and apply sustainability metrics using data from smart city infrastructure, enabling better urban planning, policy, and environmental outcomes.
Program Objectives:
- To bridge the gap between raw sensor data and actionable urban decisions
- To promote data literacy in sustainable development for cities
- To introduce standards and best practices in urban sustainability reporting
- To build capacity for monitoring and improving smart infrastructure performance
- To encourage cross-sector collaboration among tech, planning, and policy teams
