About This Course

From FDA-approved nanomedicines to next-generation theranostics and smart nanoparticle systems, nanotechnology is redefining the future of precision oncology.
This international online workshop provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of nanotechnology applications in cancer diagnosis and therapy. Participants will explore advanced nanoparticle systems, targeted drug delivery strategies, nano-enabled diagnostics, characterization techniques, clinical translation, and regulatory considerations. Through expert-led sessions, virtual case studies, data interpretation, and application-based hands-on activities, participants will gain practical insights into the development and clinical implementation of nanomedicine for cancer management.

Aim

This workshop aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of nanotechnology-driven approaches for cancer diagnosis, targeted drug delivery, and precision oncology. It focuses on the design, characterization, and clinical translation of nanomedicine platforms, enabling participants to explore advanced nano-enabled diagnostics, smart drug delivery systems, theranostics, and emerging innovations such as AI-assisted nanomedicine. Through expert-led sessions and application-based hands-on activities, participants will gain practical knowledge required for research, pharmaceutical development, and clinical implementation of cancer nanotherapeutics.

Workshop Structure

📅 Day 1: Fundamentals of Cancer Nanotechnology and Nano-Diagnostics

  • Global landscape of cancer diagnosis and the role of nanotechnology in precision oncology
  • Fundamentals of nanomedicine and nanomaterials used in cancer research
  • Types of nanoparticles: Liposomes, Polymeric Nanoparticles, Gold Nanoparticles, Magnetic Nanoparticles, Quantum Dots, Dendrimers, and Lipid Nanoparticles
  • Mechanisms of passive and active targeting in tumor-specific drug delivery
  • Nanotechnology-enabled cancer diagnostics: Liquid biopsy, biosensors, molecular imaging, and contrast agents
  • Clinical applications and FDA-approved nanomedicine products in oncology

🛠️ Hands-on Experience

Hands-on 1: Analyze published case studies of FDA-approved nanomedicine products and identify the type of nanocarrier, therapeutic target, and clinical application.

Hands-on 2: Compare different nanoparticle platforms and select the most suitable nanocarrier for a given cancer type based on drug properties, targeting strategy, and therapeutic objective.

📅 Day 2: Nanocarrier Design, Characterization, and Targeted Drug Delivery

  • Design principles of nanocarriers for anticancer therapeutics
  • Drug loading strategies and controlled drug release mechanisms
  • Tumor microenvironment-responsive nanocarriers
  • Nanoparticle characterization techniques: Particle size, zeta potential, morphology, encapsulation efficiency, and drug release profiling
  • Quality-by-Design (QbD) principles and regulatory considerations for nanomedicines
  • Challenges in translating laboratory formulations to clinical applications

🛠️ Hands-on Experience

Hands-on 1: Interpret nanoparticle characterization reports, including DLS, zeta potential, TEM/SEM images, encapsulation efficiency, and release kinetics from published research studies.

Hands-on 2: Evaluate a published nanocarrier formulation and identify key formulation parameters influencing stability, targeting efficiency, and therapeutic performance.

📅 Day 3: Clinical Translation, Emerging Technologies, and Future of Cancer Nanomedicine

  • Clinical translation of nanomedicines from laboratory research to patient care
  • Nanotechnology applications in immunotherapy, photothermal therapy, photodynamic therapy, and combination therapies
  • Lipid nanoparticles for nucleic acid and mRNA-based cancer therapeutics
  • AI-assisted nanomedicine design and personalized oncology
  • Regulatory pathways, biosafety, and commercialization of nanotherapeutics
  • Emerging trends: Smart nanorobots, biomimetic nanoparticles, exosome-inspired delivery systems, and theranostics

🛠️ Hands-on Experience

Hands-on 1: Review clinical trial summaries and published oncology case studies to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and translational challenges of nanomedicine-based cancer therapies.

Hands-on 2: Develop a conceptual translational roadmap for a nanoparticle-based cancer therapeutic, covering formulation strategy, diagnostic application, regulatory considerations, and commercialization potential.
