Dr. Sukumar Roy is an Indian Chemist and Scientist. He is the visionary former Additional General Manager at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited’s Ceramic Technological Institute. With over 32 years at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, he led various in-house R&D projects, focusing on nano-structured materials, ceramic membranes, SCR catalysts, electrical insulation, and acoustic paints. Holding a Ph.D. from the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Dr. Roy has worked at esteemed institutions like the Max Planck Institute for Metals Research. He has published over 100 articles, guided numerous students, received prestigious academic awards, served on expert committees, and delivered over 200 invited lectures globally. His Area of Expertise includes: Synthesis and Application of Carbon based Nanomaterials. He is the author of 78 peer reviewed journal papers, 7 book chapters and have 19 granted patents. He is recipient of DRDO Young Scientist Award 2001 and B. D. Bangur Award 2019 from Indian Carbon Society.

Recipient of prestigious fellowship including the Teachers Associateship for Research Excellence (TARE) fellowship under Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) Department of Science & Technology (DST) New Delhi.
