About
This workshop focuses on the advanced composite materials known as carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs), highlighting their interface characterization, sizing process for improving the polarity of carbon fibers. use of oil agents for enhancing the strength of carbon fibers strength-to-weight ratio, durability, and versatility. Participants will explore the science behind CFRPs, including their manufacturing processes, applications in aerospace, automotive, and construction industries, and the challenges associated with their use.
Aim
The aim of the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRPs) workshop is to provide participants with a thorough understanding of CFRPs, focusing on their properties, manufacturing techniques, and application potentials. The workshop is designed to enhance the ability to innovate and use the CFRPs across various high-performance industries.
Workshop Objectives
- Understand CFRP Properties: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties of carbon fiber reinforced plastics and how these properties can be leveraged in various applications.
- Master interface characterization methods: Interface of the carbon fiber and the polymer matrix is crucial for the strength and performance of the CFRPs. Various microscopic (AFM, SEM, TEM) and spectroscopic methods (FTIR, Raman and NMR) of characterization will be discussed, including hands on experience in fabricating CFRP samples.
- Explore Application Areas: Investigate the diverse applications of CFRPs across industries such as aerospace, automotive, sports equipment, and infrastructure, emphasizing case studies and current industry trends.
- Innovate with CFRPs: Encourage innovation in the design and use of CFRPs by exploring cutting-edge research and development areas, including the use of nanotechnology and hybrid composites.
- Address Sustainability and Recycling: Delve into the environmental impact of CFRPs, focusing on sustainable practices, recycling techniques, and the development of eco-friendly alternatives.
- Develop Problem-Solving Skills: Enhance problem-solving abilities by tackling real-world challenges faced in the engineering and application of CFRPs, including issues related to cost, manufacturability, and performance optimization.
