Aim

This workshop aims to provide participants with a practical understanding of nanotechnology based digital radiography, focusing on the integration of nanoparticles into digital X-ray sensors. Participants will explore how nanotechnology enhances imaging performance, gain hands-on skills in grain size analysis, and understand its impact on sensor design. The program bridges theory and practice to equip participants with the knowledge to apply these advancements in medical diagnostics, material analysis, and security technologies.

Workshop Structure

Day 1 – Fundamentals of Nanotechnology Integration in Imaging Technology

Section 1: About X-rays and their importance

  • Introduction to X-rays
  • Historical research findings
  • Applications of X-rays
  • X-ray detectors and types
  • Importance of low-dose X-rays

Section 2 : About Nanomaterials and their attenuation

  • X-ray interaction with materials and its important parameters
  • Different types of attenuation effects
  • Selection of materials through software analysis
  • Current existing direct conversion X-ray detectors
  • Key mechanism of attenuation effect and its research findings

Day 2 – Advanced sensing performance using nanoparticle and hands-on training on Nanoparticle characterization

Section 1: Nanoparticle impacts

  • Key mechanism on nano-grain size and its research findings.
  • Conclusion and future scope in nano-based digital radiography

Section 2: Nanoparticle Analysis

  • TEM instrumentation technique (theoretical),
  • High magnification (fringe patterns),
  • Low magnification (shape and size identification),
  • SAED patterns (purity),
  • Grain size measurement using J Software.

With eight years of research experience, her expertise is centered on the preparation, . . . characterization, and fabrication of low-dose X ray detectors.Her research focuses on the development of inorganic nanostructured materials with varied morphologies, including perovskite-based semiconductors, polymer-based nanocomposites,biomaterials, and metal oxide nanomaterials.Dr. Karthieka got hands on experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials through various methods and trained many post graduate students during her doctorate degree. Additionally, her industrial expertise in thin-film fabrication for organic photovoltaic (OPV) and organic photodetector (OPD) devices development, experience on various large area coating techniques, translating theoretical knowledge into industrial application.
