About
AI is increasingly used in the field of human rights monitoring to analyze large datasets, process visual evidence, track violations, and provide early warnings of potential atrocity crimes. This program will explore how machine learning, image and video recognition, NLP, and other AI techniques can detect patterns of violence, analyze online and offline data, and support humanitarian interventions. Participants will also learn about ethical issues and human rights considerations in using AI for atrocity detection.
Aim
The AI and Human Rights Monitoring Program aims to equip human rights professionals, legal experts, activists, and policymakers with the knowledge and tools to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) for monitoring and detecting atrocity crimes, including genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. This program covers AI-powered data analysis, image recognition, natural language processing (NLP), and predictive models to identify and respond to human rights violations in real-time.
Workshop Objectives
