About

The Wireless Networking program provides hands-on training in wireless technologies, network planning, security, and optimization. Participants will gain expertise in Wi-Fi deployment, 5G networks, wireless security, and cloud-managed wireless solutions. The course covers wireless communication principles, protocols, and enterprise-grade implementations for various environments, including corporate, industrial, and public networks.

Aim

To equip participants with theoretical and practical skills in wireless networking, including Wi-Fi technologies, security protocols, network planning, and troubleshooting, enabling them to design and manage enterprise wireless networks effectively.

Week 1: Network Design Principles and Architecture

Module 1: Fundamentals of Network Design

  • Understanding Network Design Concepts
    • Hierarchical Network Design: Core, Distribution, and Access Layers.
    • Modular Network Design Approach.
    • Redundancy, Scalability, and Fault Tolerance in Networks.
  • Choosing the Right Network Components
    • Selecting switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
    • Network topology considerations: Star, Mesh, Hybrid, and WAN topologies.
    • Designing for IPv4 and IPv6 compatibility.

Hands-On Lab:

  • Designing a small office network using Cisco Packet Tracer.

Module 2: Enterprise Network Architectures and Protocols

  • Enterprise LAN and WAN Design
    • Layer 2 vs. Layer 3 design principles.
    • VLANs, Inter-VLAN Routing, and Trunking.
    • VPN and MPLS for WAN connectivity.
  • Routing and Switching in Network Design
    • Dynamic Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
    • STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) and Loop Prevention.
    • EtherChannel for Link Aggregation.

Hands-On Lab:

  • Configuring VLANs, STP, and EtherChannel in a simulated enterprise network.

Week 2: Advanced Network Design and Implementation

Module 3: High Availability and Network Security Design

  • High Availability Solutions
    • HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP for Router Redundancy.
    • Load Balancing Techniques in Network Design.
    • Network Redundancy with Dual ISP Connections.
  • Implementing Security in Network Design
    • Network Segmentation and DMZ Architecture.
    • Firewall Deployment Strategies (Perimeter vs. Internal).
    • Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) for Enterprise Networks.

Hands-On Lab:

  • Configuring HSRP for router redundancy and implementing ACLs for security.

Module 4: Wireless and Cloud Networking

  • Wireless Network Design
    • WLAN Deployment Considerations (Coverage, Capacity, and Roaming).
    • Wireless Security (WPA2, WPA3, 802.1X Authentication).
    • Site Survey and RF Interference Analysis.
  • Cloud Networking and SD-WAN
    • Introduction to Cisco SD-WAN and Software-Defined Networking (SDN).
    • Connecting On-Premises Networks to Cloud Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Virtual Network Functions (VNF) and Cloud Firewalls.

Hands-On Lab:

  • Configuring a cloud-based VPN and SD-WAN connectivity.

Week 3: Network Troubleshooting and Optimization

Module 5: Network Troubleshooting Methodologies

  • Structured Troubleshooting Approach
    • OSI Model-based Troubleshooting Techniques.
    • Network Troubleshooting Tools (ping, traceroute, netstat).
    • Wireshark for Packet Analysis and Network Forensics.
  • Identifying and Resolving Common Network Issues
    • Layer 1 (Physical) Issues: Cable Faults, Interface Errors.
    • Layer 2 (Switching) Issues: VLAN Misconfigurations, STP Loops.
    • Layer 3 (Routing) Issues: Routing Loops, Incorrect Subnetting.

Hands-On Lab:

  • Diagnosing and fixing VLAN and routing issues in a network simulation.

Module 6: Performance Optimization and Disaster Recovery

  • Optimizing Network Performance
    • QoS (Quality of Service) and Traffic Shaping Techniques.
    • Latency, Jitter, and Bandwidth Optimization Strategies.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning
    • Backup Strategies for Network Devices.
    • Implementing Failover Mechanisms and Network Resiliency.

Hands-On Lab:

  • Configuring QoS for voice and video traffic and simulating network failover.
